A word from our Executive Director

Welcome to Portage, Indiana and all the best that we have to offer! Portage is a growing community just 25 miles away from the hustle and bustle of Chicago. With its serene area beaches and parks, Portage seems like a world away from the big city. visitors can tour the nearby Indiana Dunes State Park which offers camping, boating, swimming, picnicking, hiking and nature viewing.

Our new downtown Founders Square is a must see. Located off of Central Avenue, this area consists of an entertainment pavilion, splash pad, newly renovated Police Dept. as well as a new Fire Station. The Promenade, also to be located in Founders Square, will encompass business and residential opportunity. Founders Square is a beautiful place to enjoy the market, movies in the park and car shows.

Portage has emphasized diversified growth as evidence of a healthy mix of commercial and industrial development, especially on the North side in our Ameriplex at the Port Development. The South side of Portage continues to grow with a booming uprising of retail establishments. Our school district is second to none serving over 8,700 students in the district.
